The perfect combination for this winter: Vitamin C & Vitamin D
Today we want to talk to you about two essential vitamins in the world of natural supplements that have started to make a big splash thanks to the countless clinical studies that have been carried out internationally in recent months.
The ongoing pandemic has led many researchers and scientists to focus their efforts on identifying effective, safe, and non-side-effect natural immune system boosters.
Two of the major protagonists resulting from these investigations have been vitamin C and vitamin D.
VITAMIN C
No, simply eating an orange in the morning is not enough to obtain the necessary organic nutrients and be protected.
It has already been demonstrated that vitamin C has potent antiviral activity and there is no discussion about it.
Let's say this vitamin should be introduced into everyone's eating routine at least during the autumn-winter months, when the peak of common colds, seasonal flu or any other type of virus skyrockets and takes hold of many of us.
One of the most recent studies, conducted by American scientists, shows that vitamin C inhibits the virus's main protease, which is essential for viral replication. See the study here.
On the other hand, a review of studies on the use of vitamin C in respiratory infections, including Covid-19, concludes that it is worthwhile to evaluate its effect in hospitalized patients and those admitted to the ICU due to its potential benefit and safety profile.
The article, published in the journal Nutrients , estimates that taking it through oral supplementation of between 2 and 8 grams per day in infected people would be sufficient to prevent the progression from mild infection to more critical phases.
We can therefore conclude that people with vitamin C deficiency may be more susceptible to developing severe respiratory infections such as pneumonia, and that risk reduction is achieved through oral vitamin C supplementation.
As a preventative measure, at Naturemost we recommend taking 1 tablet of our Vitamin C 1,500 mg. If you are already experiencing a viral infection, increase the daily dose to 3 tablets (1+1+1).

VITAMIN D
More than 80% of the world's population lacks optimal levels of vitamin D. This figure should alarm us all enough to warrant taking action.
We know that much of this vitamin is synthesized by our own bodies through sun exposure. However, even though Spain is one of the countries with the most hours of sunshine per year, we still have a vitamin D deficiency.
Vitamin D is essential for a strong immune system. All of our immune system cells have vitamin D receptors, and that's no coincidence.
The scientific evidence regarding the importance of this vitamin in respiratory infections was already known, but we have been too slow to recognize and implement it. New studies on vitamin D levels in Covid-19 patients have been necessary for us to give it the importance it deserves.
Numerous studies have linked vitamin D deficiency to increased susceptibility to viral and bacterial respiratory infections.
Similarly, a recently published study indicates that the risk of COVID-19 mortality is inversely correlated with vitamin D3 status, and a near-zero mortality rate could theoretically be achieved with 50 ng/ml. See the study here .
We believe it is important to remain open to emerging results from rigorously conducted studies on vitamin D and to act accordingly.
Therefore, if you have low levels of this vitamin, that is, below 50 ng/ml, we recommend taking 1 pearl a day of our Vitamin D3 5,000 IU.
